 Shoppolis Islands Information

Greetings.  I am Freeman Gant, shown on the right, and my companion is Doctor Gerhardt Nase, shown on the left.  We are both leaders of small groups of worshipping people.  We are also both on the SI Board of Inspirational Practices, along with seven others.  Religion, for people, is a very important feature of life for a great many across the world, and this feeling prevails on Shoppolis Islands as well, but we treat this phenomenon in a unique manner.  Since, we consider religion a personal concern, not a collective one, we are quite sensitive to the needs of the individual rather than the mass.  Therefore, religion on SI is accepted as a human trait that is not celebrated throughout the land.  It is observed quietly in the home, and collectively in buildings designed to accommodate any group, religious or otherwise, who choose to use them.  Out of respect, SI has built these structures in such a way as to bring the worshipper's attention to the cosmos and its forces, however named or celebrated.  There is a gathering area, a preaching area and accommodations for singers and other celebrants.  To continue, I would like to introduce another member of our establishment, Alicia Ben Say.

These buildings are placed in gardens and beautiful settings to put the mind and soul at peace and provide a delightful place for weddings and a somber place for funerals.  There are educational facilities and even apartments designed to provide simple but respectful dwelling places for visiting religious dignitaries who don't wish to use commercial hotels.  Many choose to stay in the homes of their congregations who graciously offer their homes for this purpose.  SI does not forbid public display or celebration, but it does discourage any activities that are designed to contrast themselves with another's or is designed to recruit anyone other than affected admirers.  Religious ceremonies that call for outside celebration are requested to perform them in the open areas provided for public events or those surrounding the buildings set forth for religions.  To date, there has been no demonstration or violent act involving religion other than those that would be typical of an individual taking his/her religion to an extreme.  These individuals are removed from our society and offered to the country or religion they represent.  None have returned.

In order to ensure fair representation, there is a Faith Board that is part of the Executive Staff.  This board is composed of one representative from every faith permanently part of our SI community.  This board reserves a seat even if there is only one person practicing that faith on SI.
